Any.do is gorgeous. Clean, minimal, exactly what a todo app should look like. But here's the question: does looking organized mean you're actually living well?

I used Any.do for almost a year. It's genuinely one of the prettiest productivity apps ever made. The animations are smooth, the interface is clean, and the "My Day" feature is exactly what a daily planner should be.
But after six months, I looked at my completed tasks and realized something: I was getting tons of work done, but I hadn't called my parents in two weeks, hadn't exercised in a month, and couldn't remember the last time I read for pleasure.
Any.do helped me be productive. It didn't help me notice I was neglecting everything else.
Let's be honest about what makes Any.do special:
Any.do's interface is legitimately beautiful. Every interaction feels polished. The app is a joy to use visually.
Their natural language processing is excellent. "Buy milk tomorrow at 3pm" just works. Quick capture is seamless.
The calendar integration is top-notch. See your tasks alongside your events in a clean, unified view.
Works everywhere - iOS, Android, web, desktop. Your tasks sync instantly across all devices.
Share lists with family or colleagues. Great for grocery lists and simple team coordination.
Fast. Really fast. Adding tasks, checking them off, moving them around - everything feels instant.
Every task connects to one of 8 life areas: Career, Health, Family, Friends, Personal Growth, Fun, Finance, Love. Your daily planner shows you which areas you're actually working on.
The wheel shows you visually when life areas are empty. If your Health section is gray for three days, you'll notice. Any.do would just show you a clean, empty list.
Earn XP for completing tasks, but the real reward is seeing your Purpose Wheel fill up evenly. It's not about points - it's about living a balanced life.
We love Any.do's aesthetic. So we made Funtasking just as beautiful - but with colors that mean something. Purple gradients show your life balance, not just decoration.
See which life areas got attention this week and which got ignored. This isn't in Any.do because Any.do doesn't know what your tasks are for.
Purpose Wheel, gamification, all features - completely free. Any.do locks templates and themes behind Premium ($3/month).
Any.do's philosophy: Make task management so simple and beautiful that you actually use it. Remove friction. Clean design, fast interactions, minimal thinking.
It's a good philosophy. I respect it. The problem is that it optimizes for task completion without asking if you're completing the right tasks.
Funtasking's philosophy: Your daily planner should be simple AND aware. It should help you get things done AND help you notice when you're only doing work things.
We kept the minimalist daily view. We kept the fast interactions. We added the one thing missing: awareness of balance.

Morning in Funtasking:
The difference: Any.do would have let you complete all 8 work tasks and feel great. Funtasking helped you notice the imbalance before the day started.
Any.do Premium ($3/month or $30/year) adds:
These are nice features. But notice what's missing: any awareness of life balance. Premium makes the app prettier and more flexible. It doesn't make it wiser about how you're spending your time.
Funtasking gives you gamification, Purpose Wheel, and life balance tracking for free. Because we think everyone deserves to see if they're neglecting important life areas, not just paying users.
